Johnnie Taylor was an American soul and R&B singer. He was born in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, in 1934 and began singing in church at a young age. Taylor’s professional career began in the early 1960s, and he released a string of hit singles throughout the decade, including “Who’s Making Love,” “Take Care of Your Homework,” and “I Believe in You (You Believe in Me).” Taylor continued to record and perform throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and he remained a popular live performer until his death in 2000.
